Yesterday morning I gave myself a mani/pedi (my first since quarantine). As a former licensed nail technician, I can admit - I'm a little rusty. I started my day by making breakfast before home school, washing a load of clothes, cleaning the bathroom and beginning my first day of the Beach Body on Demand workout (in my head). By 12 noon I'd done all of this, plus completed three homeschooling assignments.
The pace of quarantine is slow and faster than ever, at the same damn time. It's a constant reminder of what really matters. The people in my quarantine crew are the most important.
I'm more intentional with everything I touch; the meals I create, the homeschool lessons and examples I support, the conveniences of life I create for my senior Mom and youth son. I've lived enough life to experience death, life, pain, joy, break down and break through. Quarantine allows all of those emotions, often in the same day.
Yesterday I emerged from a conference call about 1pm to my sobbing Mom saying "Preacher Man" had passed. Her brother, my uncle had crossed over. I gave him, Frank Pearson, the name "Preacher Man." The nick name has a sass and sarcasm to it that only knowing him would allow one to understand. In retrospect the name "Preacher Man" is reflective of a man that lived life on those terms. He continuously reinvented and recreated his life on his own terms. It takes confidence and courage to go off on your own and create the life you really want. Frank did that. It's to be respected.
A rebellious spirit, a wanderlust lover in his early life. Frank created the life he wanted. Known to escapade and galavant with flavorful people from Miami, Florida to Denver, Colorado.
In his latter years he earned a Masters in Theology from Morehouse College and returned to his roots in the home he grew up in, in S.C. Frank found love and wed In South Carolina. Lisa and Frank were in love and happily married for over a decade.
His passing was sudden - unrelated to Covid-19.
Frank had lunch with his wife Lisa at 11am and passed before dinner. A reminder to stay in the moment.
Rest in Peace Frank, aka "Preacher Man" - keep creating and evolving with Love.
